The Snail House
How a spirit can travel through space and time
Georgiu and the archimages sends travelers to explore new planets using a device enabling instantaneous space travel. Could he use the capacity of Beerfenegar, a Gerdran who is able to move out of his body, to explore these planets without risking any damage for his body? The first attempt has unexpected consequences, because the instantaneous travel device was not intended to be used to transfer a spirit without matter around him. Will they be able to improve sufficiently the travel device to enable Beerfenegar to use it?
On one of these planets an archeologist is killed before being able to present an important discovery about human origins. This discovery is related to the fate of Ghor, a malefic god who has been imprisoned on the planet by the archimages. Beerfenegar will try to inquire about the history of Ghor to help thwart his plots.
Counter Clock World takes place in a future where an event has made time move in reverse. The dead become old-born, and mortuary services dig up the newly risen. The old grow young and the young regress until they rejoin the womb of a volunteer. Libraries destroy information instead of curate it. Cigarettes start as butts and grow as they’re smoked. As for eating? Well, it gets a little gross.
The main thread of the story involves a former religious leader who gained popularity especially after his death. He is revived by the owner of a mortuary, which leads to a series of escalating events, each more dangerous than the last.
